Scholarships for New Mexico High School Students

Andrew Piech Memorial Scholarship

Providing assistance to students in the field of Automotive Technology and related Applied Technologies. To qualify, students must pursue a degree or certificate from a nonprofit, public, automotive, or technical vocational institution, including community colleges.

The Andrew Piech Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2010 by Paula and Gerald Piech to memorialize their son, Andrew. After graduating from Eldorado High School in 2004, Andrew enrolled in the Universal Technical Institute (UTI) of Phoenix and graduated in 2005. Andrew enjoyed working on cars and UTI allowed him to pursue his passion in the automotive field.

One or more scholarships are awarded each year to New Mexico graduating high school seniors and/or continuing college students. Students must pursue a degree or certificate from a nonprofit or public school or an automotive or technical vocational institution, including community colleges. Student may attend school full or part-time.

One to two awards up to $2,200 will be given annually. Awards may be used to cover the cost of attending school including required books, fees and materials.

Criteria and Guidelines:

Applicant must be:

  • A current or past resident of New Mexico
  • A graduating high school senior OR a new/returning college student
  • Must pursue a degree or certificate from a nonprofit or public school
  • Must pursue a certificate or degree in an automotive or technical vocational studies
  • Attend a two or four year college, university or community college
  • Attend school full-time or part-time
  • Attend a nonprofit or public educational institution
  • The Foundation does not make student aid awards to FOR PROFIT schools

Bob Chavez Scholarship for the Arts by The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center

Providing assistance to students who are a member of, or are affiliated with, a federally recognized Pueblo from New Mexico who are pursuing a degree in the visual arts or related fields including, but not limited to, studio arts, graphic design, photography, architecture, design, cinematic arts, and art history.

More about the Bob Chavez Scholarship

In 2018 the Bob Chavez Scholarship for the Arts was initially established at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center in conjunction with the opening of a rotating exhibit – A Promise Fulfilled: The Life and Legacy of Bob Chavez. This scholarship is named in honor of Manuel “Bob” Chavez of Cochiti Pueblo, who dedicated 50 years as a volunteer teaching art at St. Catherine’s Indian School.

Bob’s love for art began with his father, Cipriano Chavez, who painted with watercolors. Bob never took art classes, instead he learned by watching his father and through constant practice. In 1933, when he was just 17 years old, his mother submitted his artwork to the Indian Art Market where he won the first-place blue ribbon and a $12 cash prize.  Bob’s son, Franco Chavez, recalls trying to set up the art market booth with his dad later in life: “We never had to set up the booth because we would sell the paintings as we were pulling them off the truck.”

Bob’s paintings show traditional life including dances from Cochiti Pueblo, the horses his family raised, and his community members. A giant mural by Bob Chavez adorns the IPCC courtyard which reverently depicts horses in an open setting.

Criteria and Guidelines:

  • Applicant must be a high school graduating senior from New Mexico OR a current college student OR returning college student from New Mexico
  • Applicant must demonstrate interest in the study of the visual arts or related field (graphic design, photography, architecture, design, cinematic arts, art history, etc.)
  • Applicant must be a member of, or affiliated with, a federally recognized Pueblo from the 19 Pueblo communities of New Mexico
    • Pueblo enrollment is not required, but Pueblo affiliation must be verified by a letter of support from a current tribal government official of the Pueblo community.
  • Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Applicant must plan to attend, or is currently attending, a 2-year or 4-year public or private nonprofit college, university, or technical vocational school, part-time or full-time, in state or out of state

Carl F. Scott Scholarship Fund for Tucumcari Lodge #27 A.F. & A.M.

Providing assistance to New Mexico residents from Quay County to continue their post-secondary education. Applications are considered for graduating high school seniors beginning their college education.
More about the Carl F. Scott Scholarship Fund

In collaboration with Tucumcari Lodge No. 27 AF&AM, awards are made annually for students working toward a 2 or 4 year degree, masters, or doctoral degree.

Carl Scott was born one year after New Mexico was admitted to the Union and called New Mexico home for 90 years. Mr. Scott was a graduate from the New Mexico Military Institute and served in World War II. After suffering an injury and becoming disabled, he returned to New Mexico to work as an engineer for the Civil Service.

Through his estate, Carl Scott established a program to assist New Mexico residents from Quay County to continue their post-secondary education.

Applications are considered from graduating high school seniors beginning their college education, currently enrolled college students, or from nontraditional students. The nontraditional student is defined as a person who is returning to school after time away, pursuing a career change, or a first time adult student. In 2022, this fund provided 15 awards between $750 and $2000 for students to continue their education.

Applicant may pursue a master’s, bachelor’s, or associate degree in a science and/or human service discipline without consideration of a planned career location OR ALTERNATIVELY applicant may pursue a degree, technical or vocational certificate, or a diploma for use in any planned trade or career in a northwest New Mexico community.

Providing scholarships to students seeking a higher education for the following purposes: Applicant may pursue a master’s, bachelor’s or associate degree in a science and/or human service discipline without consideration of planned career location OR ALTERNATIVELY applicant may pursue a degree or technical or vocational certificate or diploma for use in any planned trade or career in a northwest New Mexico community.

The Davis-Kozoll Scholarship was established in 2019 for students seeking a higher education.

Student may pursue a master’s, bachelor’s, or associate degree in a science and/or human service discipline without consideration of a planned career location OR ALTERNATIVELY students may pursue a degree, technical or vocational certificate, or diploma for use in any planned trade or career in a northwest New Mexican community.

Examples of potential college majors include, but NOT limited to:

  • Nursing
  • Public Health
  • Social Work
  • Therapy
  • Earth Science
  • Forestry
  • Plumbing
  • Computer Science

Awards will be made to students residing in northwest New Mexico with a priority for those students residing within the communities of Counselor, Cuba, Gallina, La Jara, Lindrith, Lybrook, Nageezi, Ojo Encino, Regina, San Luis, and Torreon.

Scholarships can be renewed annually with evidence of successful completion of course work and continued enrollment. Awards will support tuition, living, required class supplies and fee expenses.

One to two awards of $1,000 to $5000 will be given annually.

Applicant may be required to attend an interview during final round of decisions.

Criteria and Guidelines:

  • Applicant must be a resident of northwest New Mexico.
  • Preference will be given to students who reside in or near the following communities: Counselor, Cuba, Gallina, La Jara, Lindrith, Lybrook, Nageezi, Ojo Encino, Regina, San Luis or Torreon
  • Applicant must be a senior in high school
  • Applicant may pursue a master’s, bachelor’s or associate degree in a science and/or human service discipline without consideration of planned career location
  • OR ALTERNATIVELY Applicant may pursue a degree or technical or vocational certificate or diploma for use in any planned trade or career in a northwest New Mexico community
  • Applicant may attend an accredited 4-year educational institution, 2-year community college, or technical or vocational program.
  • Applicant must have a minimum 2.0 GPA

Application Requirements

  • Personal essay must explain your interest in your chosen course of study and how obtaining a higher education will support personal employment or career goals. Also include the following answers in your essay:
    • Why are you going to college, community college or trade school?
    • Why are you interested in the studies you have chosen to pursue in college, community college or trade school?
    • Any unusual challenges you are facing in continuing your education?
    • How will you give back to the community after graduation?
    • How will you maximize your college education to help others or your community after graduation?
  • One Letter of Recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor, school administrator or other person familiar with your academic achievement and educational aspirations.
  • Professional Student Resume Include your high school activities, awards, honors, community service, employment, internships
  • Include the number of years of participation and any office or position held for each activity listed
  • Transcript
  • Any other high school documents you would like to provide.

Joe “Isi” Trujillo Scholarship

Providing assistance to a graduating senior from Hot Springs High School in Truth or Consequences, NM who will be attending a New Mexico public university/college or community college.
More about the Joe “Isi” Trujillo Scholarship

The Joe “Isi” Trujillo Scholarship Fund was established in 2019 by the Trujillo Family in memory of Isi to provide a scholarship for a graduating senior from Hot Springs High School (HSHS) in Truth or Consequences, NM. Joe “Isi” Trujillo was born in rural Sierra County on his family ranch in Chiz. In high school, not only was Isi an outstanding athlete having lettered in football, baseball, and track, he was also an elected class officer and participated in student council. Isi graduated from HSHS in the 1960’s as a strong believer in the power of education and in the significance of stewardship – giving back and improving on things as you found them.

Isi believed in the importance of hard work, teamwork, and commitment. These important personal characteristics remained with him during his military service and throughout his professional career with the federal government. Joe had a distinguished career and retired as a Congressionally approved Senior Executive. He worked directly for the Assistant Secretary of Agriculture and held the highest security clearance which enabled him to work with three Presidents.

The Trujillo scholarship will provide one $2000 scholarship for a graduating senior from HSHS. This scholarship will be given annually and can be used for tuition, room, board, fees, and college essentials such as books, computers, and supplies.

Criteria and Guidelines:

  • MUST be a graduate of Hot Springs High School, Truth or Consequences, NM
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Must be accepted to a two or four year New Mexico, nonprofit or public college or university, and attend full time

Recipient may be asked to give a short, informal presentation for the Trujillo Family. This would include an introduction of yourself, what you are studying, and a chance to show your gratitude. Recipient will be notified with the date and time of the presentation upon selection.

More about the James Knott Memorial Scholarship Fund

This fund was established in 1996 by the New Mexico Manufactured Housing Association to provide scholarship awards to New Mexico graduating high school seniors residing in a manufactured home.

One or two awards up to $1,000 will be given annually.

Criteria and Guidelines:

  • Student applicant MUST live in a mobile/manufactured home
  • Minimum cumulative GPA 3.0
  • Attend a 2 or 4 year nonprofit or public educational institution or university full time
  • In your essay, please state your career goals
  • Written statement of financial need
  • Proof of residency in a mobile/manufactured home with one of the following documents:
    • A copy of title or rental agreement OR
    • Retail installment contract OR
    • County tax assessment
  • One reference from a teacher or counselor (1 page, 1 side only)
  • Recipient(s) are required to write a letter of appreciation before awards will be made
  • Recipient(s) will be recognized at the NMMHA Conference

Nina J. Wing Scholarship

Providing assistance to students previously in foster care who are currently attending or will be attending Central New Mexico Community College.

CNM LogoThe Nina J. Wing Scholarship was established in 2018 through Albuquerque Community Foundation in partnership with Central New Mexico Community College for students previously in foster care who are currently attending or will be attending Central New Mexico Community College.

Nina J. Wing was born in Beaumont, Texas on August 12, 1921. She was valedictorian of her high school graduating class and went on to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas. Nina continued her education and also earned a degree in education and then a Master’s degree in Counseling. Nina moved to Albuquerque in the 1950s.

Criteria

  • Each scholarship shall be for a maximum of 12 terms (constitute an Associate Degree)
  • Applicants must have been in Foster Care for at least one (1) year before entry into CNM
  • Applicants must graduate from a New Mexico high school or high school equivalency
  • Preference shall be given to applicants who have resided at “The Ranches”, 6209 Hendrix Road, NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico
  • Scholarship funds may be used to pay tuition, books, lab fees, equipment and/or reasonable living expenses, including but not necessarily limited to rent, utilities.
  • Scholarship recipients must register for a minimum of six credit hours and maintain a 2.0 grade point average and complete 50% of the classes that recipient enrolls in, excluding physical education classes, from one term to another to receive funding for the next term
  • The award is a maximum of $2,000 per term (per student) with a maximum cumulative award of $24,000 per student

Sussman-Miller Educational Assistance Fund

Providing assistance to students to further their education in an undergraduate program who need financial assistance to address the ‘gap’ in financial aid packages.

    Throughout her life, Shirley Sussman Spiewak was involved with numerous educational and charitable organizations. She and her husband were passionate advocates of education, believing it to be “the one possession that is permanent.”

    A fund was established in 1994 from their estates to provide financial assistance to students to further their education in an undergraduate program.

    This program provides financial assistance to address the ‘gap’ in financial aid packages for both students graduating from high school and those continuing their education. Students who are just graduating from high school have different guidelines and application forms than students who have already completed at least one semester of undergraduate studies. Students working on a second under graduate or graduate degree will not be considered.

    To apply for financial assistance, please read through all of the instructions carefully, complete the appropriate application form, and submit all requested documents before the listed deadline.

    Awards vary based on demonstrated need up to $8,000.

    For graduating high school seniors who will attend any out-of-state college or an in-state private school.

    For graduating high school seniors who will attend a New Mexico public college/university and any student already attending college in OR out-of-state.

    Only gaps between $500 and $8,000 will be considered.

    Criteria and Guidelines to Note:

    • Graduating high school seniors must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5
    • Current college undergraduates must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
    • Attend a public or nonprofit college or university full-time
    • Graduating high school senior OR currently enrolled in college/university
    • Available statewide
    • MUST BE a federal financial aid recipient
    • Preference will be given to applicants with a lower Student Aid Index (SAI) as indicated on your FAFSA

    David R. Woodling Memorial Scholarship

    Providing assistance to students who are or will be attending an accredited nonprofit or public educational institution and who are pursuing a certificate or degree in a metals technology program with a concentration in machine tool technology and welding.

    The David R. Woodling Memorial Scholarship was established in 2007 by The Stocker Foundation, in memory of David R. Woodling. The scholarship was established to support students who are or will be attending an accredited nonprofit or public educational institution in pursuit of a certificate or degree in a metals technology program with a concentration in machine tool technology and welding.

    The Stocker Foundation believes that the future of New Mexico, and the country, is dependent on quality education. Several awards will be made annually to support undergraduate students. Applicants may be graduating high school seniors, current undergraduate college students, or students who are pursuing or have received a GED diploma or certificate. Awards may be used for tuition, fees, books, and/or required tools and materials.

    Criteria and Guidelines:

    Applicant must be:

    • A legal resident of New Mexico for a minimum of one year AND
    • A high school senior graduating in the spring of 2022 with a 2.5 GPA or receiving your GED diploma or certificate OR
    • An undergraduate college student currently pursuing a Certificate or Degree in Metals Technology OR
    • A nontraditional student with a high school diploma or GED certificate accepted into a Metals Technology Program AND
    • Will attend an accredited nonprofit or public educational institution pursuing an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Metals Technology during the 2022-2023 school year
    • Students may attend college full-time or part-time
    • Your personal essay/statement should clearly describe your career goals and MUST include relevant experience, why you have chosen this field of study, and how you plan to use these skills to better yourself, your family and community; pictures of previous work may be included
    • Letters of reference from one or more teacher, counselor, mentor or community member

    Youth in Foster Care Scholarship Fund

    Providing assistance to young adults who have been in the New Mexico foster care system who want to develop a marketable skill or continue their education at a post-secondary school.

    Jim and Ann Nelson were long-time volunteers for CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates, an organization that oversees care for children in state custody. CASA volunteers are tasked with speaking for the best interests of abused and neglected children in court. Through their volunteer work, the Nelson’s have seen first-hand the resources available to support children up until their 18th birthday, which is when they age-out of the foster care program. Because of this, the Nelsons wanted to help ensure a fair opportunity for children in foster care to have a successful transition into adulthood.

    The Youth in Foster Care Scholarship fund will make awards to young adults who are aging-out of foster care and want to develop a marketable skill or those who want to continue their education at a post-secondary school. The Nelsons hope they can positively impact the lives of young people who have already suffered from the insecurity of an unstable childhood.

    Applicants may be high school graduating seniors, recent graduates, those with a GED certificate, or an undergraduate in college. Students may attend a nonprofit or public educational institute in New Mexico or out-of-state and may attend school full-time or part-time.

    Criteria and Guidelines:

    Applicant must be:

    • A New Mexico resident for a minimum of one year
    • In the New Mexico foster care system for a minimum of one year
    • Between the ages of 17 and 21 at time of initial application
    • An undergraduate college student
    • Have a minimum cumulative GPA 2.5 for high school OR
    • Have completed a GED program OR
    • Have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA in college

    The Globe Runner Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to underserved, highly motivated high school students from the greater Albuquerque area to help them build a global vision through participation in global education and international exchanges in countries around the world. International learning builds world language skills, strengthens confidence and independence, and expands individual horizons.

    Globe Runner Scholarship Fund logoScholarships will be awarded to high-achieving students. Half of each scholarship comes from the national AFS-USA Faces of America program and half from local funds. Students must be nominated by their high school or mentoring program.     Robby Baker Memorial Scholarship Fund

    Providing assistance to a La Cueva High School graduating senior who has a language learning or other reading disability.

    The Robby Baker Scholarship Fund was established by Robby’s family in 2003. Robby loved to ski and found that skiing helped his self-confidence as he dealt with the challenges of dyslexia. This award is for a La Cueva High School graduating senior who has a language learning, reading disability, learning barrier or life challenge.

    One award up to $1,000 will be given annually.

    Criteria and Guidelines:

    • Must attend La Cueva High School
    • Personal essays should include a brief description of how applicant is coping with dyslexia and/or other reading disabilities
    • Minimum cumulative GPA 2.0
    • Attend a nonprofit or public educational institute, or nonprofit technical school part-time or full time
    • Up to two references from teachers and/or counselors.

    Providing assistance to an Albuquerque High School graduate pursuing a bachelor’s degree in one of the STEM majors: Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics.

    The Barnes W. Rose, Jr. and Eva Rose Nickol Scholarship Fund was established in 2003 in honor of Albuquerque High alum and 1957 West Point grad Barnes W. Rose and his aunt, longtime New Mexico resident, Eva Rose Nickol. This award is for an Albuquerque High School senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in one of the STEM majors - Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics.

    One award up to $800 will be given annually.

    Criteria and Guidelines:

    • Must attend Albuquerque High School
    • Minimum cumulative GPA 3.6
    • Demonstrate financial need
    • Attend a college or university in pursuit of a degree in one of the STEM majors
    • Personal essay should describe career goals related to the STEM majors and demonstrate a passion for his/her chosen career
    • Applicants should demonstrate math and/or science interest and skill through SAT/ACF scores and/or strong grades in appropriate high school classes
    • Minimum of one reference from an AHS math/science teacher
    • Up to two additional references programs may be submitted
    • A priority will be given to those pursuing engineering-related careers

    Providing assistance to Eldorado High School varsity soccer team graduating seniors. (One male and one female.)
    Bryan Cline Memorial Soccer Scholarship Fund

    For Eldorado High School students only.

    Bryan Cline played fullback on the Eldorado High School soccer team. After his death in 1986, family and friends established the Bryan Cline Memorial Soccer Scholarship Fund to recognize one male and one female graduating varsity soccer player from Eldorado High School. Recipients must exhibit a strong scholastic record and leadership qualities.

    Two $800 awards will be given annually.

    Criteria and Guidelines:

    • Must attend Eldorado High School
    • Attend a college or university full time
    • Name of your varsity soccer team coach
    • 2 letters of reference – one from a teacher or counselor and one from a soccer coach

    Douglas Faust Blackledge Memorial Scholarship

    Providing assistance to Manzano High School boys varsity soccer players and members of the varsity wrestling team. For Manzano High School students only.

    Douglas Faust Blackledge was a 1988 graduate of Manzano High School in Albuquerque, NM and played fullback for the MHS Soccer Team that won the New Mexico State Championship in the fall of 1987. During his tenure at MHS, Douglas was a three-year varsity letterman on the MHS Wrestling team.

    After graduating from high school Doug enrolled in the US Air Force Academy where he earned a BS in Electrical Engineering. During his 22 years of service Douglas held many positions, his favorite being an instructor pilot in the 58th Special Operations Wing on Kirtland Air Force Base.

    The Douglas Faust Blackledge Memorial Scholarship will recognize one graduating senior from the Manzano High School Boys Varsity Soccer team, and one graduating senior from the Manzano High School Varsity Wresting team.

    Criteria and Guidelines:

    • Must be a high school graduating senior from Manzano High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico
    • Must participate in the Manzano High School varsity boys’ soccer team and/or the Manzano High School varsity wrestling team
    • Must plan to attend a 2-year or 4-year public or nonprofit college, university, or technical vocational school, part-time or full-time
    • Preference will be given to applicants who are able to describe their plans for the future and those who show a commitment to contribute to community and responsible citizenship

      The James Ledwith Memorial Scholarship Fund was established with Albuquerque Community Foundation by family and friends of James Ledwith in 2011. This scholarship program will award one or more scholarships of up to $2,000 to high school graduates from Albuquerque who plan to continue to pursue a life dream and a professional or educational goal in spite of facing extraordinary life challenges.

      The recipient will be a graduating high school senior from the Albuquerque Metro Area (Bernalillo, Valencia, Torrance, and Sandoval Counties) who has overcome their personal adversity and demonstrates:

      • Hope, faith and courage
      • Thoughtfulness and service to others
      • Living life, pursuing dreams and enabling oneself

      This scholarship is to be used for post-secondary education at an accredited nonprofit or public educational institution with the intention of pursuing a life dream and/or professional goal. The school may be a two-year or four-year college or university and the student must attend full-time. Applicants needs to demonstrate that they are capable of succeeding in their educational pursuits and that this scholarship will help them in this endeavor.

      One to two awards up to $2,000 will be given annually.

      After the Foundation’s committee has met to review applications, recipients will be notified via mail and will be listed on this web page. The recipient’s high school will also be notified of the selection for inclusion in the Senior Honors Assembly.

      Additional REQUIRED Criteria/Attachments:

      The official letters of reference should explain how the applicant meets the criteria and intent of this program – to award a student who has faced and overcome an extraordinary life challenge during their high school years.

      • One letter of reference must be from a member of his/her high school staff or faculty (a teacher, administrator or activity sponsor). This MUST explain how the applicant has faced an extraordinary life challenge during their high school years. They must explain their role and/or relationship with the applicant.
      • The second letter of reference may be from someone whose life has been positively affected by the applicant such as a community or activity sponsor, employer, minister, teacher, etc. This letter MUST explain how the applicant has faced an extraordinary life challenge during their high school years and how their example has impacted the person writing the letter. They must explain their role and/or relationship with the applicant.

      A personal essay that describes:

      • Your life dream and professional/educational goals
      • The extraordinary life challenge you have had to face during your high school years and the steps you have taken to pursue your dreams despite this challenge
      • How you have demonstrated thoughtfulness and service to others

      Jonathan Sherman Spradling Memorial Scholarship Fund

      Providing assistance to graduating high school seniors who can demonstrate their experience with volunteerism and community service. Preference will be given to those who reside in Valencia County, NM.

      Jonathan Sherman Spradling was a lifelong New Mexico resident who was born in and lived his life in and around Artesia and Albuquerque. He was a graduate of Artesia High School and went on to study English and History at the University of New Mexico with hopes of one day becoming an educator. He was a gifted young man who believed in the excellence and potential of New Mexico and dedicated his time to education, public broadcasting, social issues, environmental protection and beautification, as well as helping those experiencing homelessness. Even after his untimely passing Jonathan was able to give back to those in need as an organ donor. In 2007 the state of New Mexico enacted the Jonathan Spradling Revised Uniform Anatomical Gift Act, as well as the development of the state’s organ donor license plates in honor of Jonathan.

      The Jonathan Sherman Spradling Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2023 at the Albuquerque Community Foundation by Jonathan’s friends and family and serves as a testament to the lasting legacy of Jonathan’s talent and love he showed to those who were lucky enough to cross his path.

      Providing assistance for graduating seniors from 24 designated central New Mexico high schools attending a New Mexico four-year college or university. Each designated high school selects one student for a $500 per year award, renewable for a total of four years of undergraduate studies.

      Manuel Lujan Jr. was a twenty-year member of the United States House of Representatives who recognized the need to help young people with their college costs. The Manuel Lujan Excellence in Education Scholarship was established in his honor to provide resources to students from 24 designated central New Mexico high schools.

      Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors attending a New Mexico four-year college or university. Each designated high school selects one student for a $500 per year award which is renewable over four years of undergraduate studies.

      The Pedro and Mateo SandovalStrong Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2020 by the Sandoval family in memory of their sons Pedro “Pete” and Mateo Sandoval. Pete and Mateo were both outstanding student athletes who participated in football, basketball, and track as well as being highly involved in extra-curricular activities at Moriarty High School such as 4-H, National History Day, and National Honor Society. The Sandoval family established the Pedro and Mateo SandovalStrong Memorial Scholarship fund to honor the legacy of their sons.

      The Pedro and Mateo SandovalStrong Memorial Scholarship provides scholarships to Moriarty High School students attending a two-year or four-year college or university or a certified trade school, and who are pursuing their first undergraduate, associate, or applied skilled trades degree.       The Susie Kubié Scholarship is for current or past participants of the Albuquerque Youth Symphony Program (AYSP).

      The Susie Kubié Symphonic Music Scholarship was established in 2017 and provides scholarships to deserving young students who have participated in the Albuquerque Youth Symphony Program (AYSP) who intend to pursue a degree in music.

      Susie Kubié was a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico for 66 years. Over the span of her career, Susie worked as a special education teacher at Rio Grande High School, a counselor at Harrison Middle School for 5 years, and at Jefferson Middle School for 25 years. Susie was deeply touched by the lives of her many students, and she made a significant and lasting impression on the countless children who passed through her schools during her tenure.

      One new and/or renewing scholarship, up to $4,000 will be awarded annually. The scholarship can be renewable for up to four years, providing the recipient be working toward a career in music and continue to meet the criteria. This decision will be made on a yearly basis. Awards may be used for academic costs, i.e., tuition, fees, books or housing.

      • A personal essay, demonstrating a strong interest in pursuing education and a career in music
      • A letter of reference from a music teacher or mentor who has supported your musical studies
      • A letter of nomination/support from Albuquerque Youth Symphony Program (AYSP)
      • A video submission of a live performance or live recording of composed music (max. 5 minutes)

      Providing support to a female student from Albuquerque Academy to continue their education at a nonprofit or public educational institution. One female graduating senior will be selected to receive a one-time, non-renewable award up to $3,000.

      • Preference will be given to applicants who have been a member of a high school debate team or society at Albuquerque Academy or elsewhere.
      • High school transcript including grades through 12th grade fall semester with SAT and/or ACT scores

      William F. Mann Scholarship

      Providing assistance to students to secure a college education and create a better way of life, ultimately mentoring other young men and women to succeed. It is important the applicant has a strong background in community service during his or her high school career and reflects that of a “stand-up citizen."       The William F. Mann Scholarship program was established in 2018 for Albuquerque High School students who are pursuing an education at a college or university full-time. William was inspired by his parents to establish the program so students can secure a college education and create a better way of life. Ultimately, recipients will mentor other young men and women to succeed.

      Applicants must have a strong background in community service and reflect characteristics of a “stand-up citizen.” Scholarships may be used toward tuition, fees, books, required equipment, technology, and/or room and board on campus. Awards may be eligible for renewal for up to four years if the recipient continues to demonstrate a minimum GPA of 3.0.

      One to two awards up to $2,000 will be given annually.

      • Have experience in community service and a reflects “good citizenship” in the community

      The Woodcock Family Education Scholarship was established in 1993 by Albuquerque businessman C.E. (Woody) Woodcock and his wife, Dixie, to support students of exceptional promise in the fields of science and math.

      The Woodcocks strongly believed the future of this state and the country is dependent on the quality of education. Scholarships will be awarded to Albuquerque metro area high school graduating seniors (includes Bernalillo, Sandoval, Valencia and Torrance Counties). This is a merit-based award, not based on financial need.

      Up to three scholarships of $10,000. Renewable over four years.

      • Be a Albuquerque Metro resident, includes Bernalillo, Valencia, Sandoval and Torrance counties
      • Have a minimum cumulative 3.8 GPA
      • Must have strong math and/or science credentials
