About Us

Community is Our Foundation

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Albuquerque Community Foundation is committed to building a more just and equitable community.   Diversity, equity and inclusion are core to the successes of our internal operations and to our external impact and engagement in the community.  We believe that by being inclusive and focusing on diversity, we can arrive at equity.

The Foundation’s vision will be realized if inclusiveness is institutionalized and becomes a core value in every aspect of our organization, including:  policies, procedures, board of trustees, individual staff members, committee members, donors, current and potential grantees and within our organizational goals and evolving vision.

We acknowledge that these changes will present opportunities for growth.  We value individual and group differences, and our communications must be open and honest.

We know that intention alone will not change things. To this work, we bring the successes and mistakes of our own continuing efforts in the direction towards equity.

We know:

  • This work is urgent, and we will always be learning.
  • We will make mistakes and own our responsibility for corrective action.
  • Our efforts will be tireless, and we will not stop.

The Foundation is committed to our own equity journey, the diversity of our key stakeholders, and being a leader and change agent that contributes to an inclusive, equitable and just community that champions our rich diversity.

DEI United

DEI United is a partnership between UWCNM and the Albuquerque Community Foundation created to support, fund, and advance Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion practices in the area each organization serves.

The staffs of United Way of Central New Mexico and Albuquerque Community Foundation have drawn advice from community partners and from the values of Trust-Based Philanthropy to intentionally focus on equity. At this time, funds are awarded to organizations that are: BIPOC or lived-experience led and/or organizations that center on addressing systemic inequities in their work and have deep connections to the community.
