Highlights – 2019 Snapshot
Since we were founded in 1981, the goals of the Foundation have remained the same: to coordinate the receipt and investment of charitable contributions, to distribute funds for community needs in a timely and well-researched manner and to serve as a leader and educational resource in encouraging philanthropy in this great city. We continue to strive to make sure that every philanthropic investment returns the greatest emotional, financial and civic benefit possible. We are committed to conversation, community involvement and investment. We endeavor to protect the spirit of each endowment fund and the grants made from those funds, to ensure partnerships that are working together towards these common goals.
In 2019, the Foundation:
- Had contributions totaling $7.4M
- Crew assets under management to $108M
- Awarded $4.6M in grants
- Adopted a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Policy to guide the future of the Foundation ensuring all voices are involved. heard and understood
- Introduced Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Expo (E3}-E3abq.com
- Served as co-chairs of New Mexico Counts 2020
- Installed “In the Garden of Sharing” mural on the Champion Building, in memory
- of Jennifer Riordan
- Led a landscape analysis in partnership with Living Cities to better understand and fill gaps in funding for entrepreneurs of color
- Partnered with the NM Funders Collaborative on collective impact grants
- Participated in a statewide grantmaking collaborative to support the LGBTQ community with the New Mexico Community Foundation Coalition
- Introduced Tapestry
- Hosted donor Trolley Tours so our donors could see the day-do-day work of our nonprofit partners
- Established the Brighter Future Fund. a state-wide grantmaking program for
- New Mexico Oil and Gas Association
As we close 2019, our vision and mission endure. We continue to be a leader in community philanthropy and to build. invest and manage endowment funds to enhance the quality of our community through informed strategic grantmaking.
